Summary:

Weed Eater WE-ONE
Some of it’s selling points include a complete electric start, easy single lever control to the left for height adjustment and three different driving speeds. One speed is ideal for cutting regular grass, the other for fast transport and the slowest speed for edging. The cutting deck is just ample enough for a medium sized lawn. In fact, this lawn mower comes with cruise control such that you can relax your foot once you hit a particular speed so as to cruise through your lawn and cut weed. Spanning just 36 inches wide, you will never face any problem going through yard gates. Furthermore, it will take care of tight spots and store easily in the shed. Its tiny space saving design is mostly made from steel with the deck fashioned out of 13 gauge steel. An efficient single blade cutting design helps in maintaining airflow more evenly for reduced scalping on uneven surface and uniform cut depth.

Our Experience with the WE-ONE:

Right out of the box, you will notice the pre-assembled nature of the Weed Eater WE-1. It comes with most of the parts packed onto it with just the accessories such as levers, wheels etc. needing attachment. Once assembled, I found the 36 inch width ideal for my mediocre lawn size. Usually, it takes me around an hour mowing my lawn but I felt this time could go into something more production and hence the reason to search for something more quicker and powerful. Thankfully, the Weed Eater WE-ONE costs half of most other ride-on mowers. The motor is a 875 Briggs & Stratton model, which although has no power rating, comes with a torque rating of 8.75. This proved to be quite and yet powerful as it easily powers the mower across my lawn, be it at the slowest of the three speed settings or the highest. However, I did find that it produces additional noise as you cranked the drive belt controlling the blade cutting deck into life. The added strain is evident on the motor but not something that you should worry about.

It’s been well over a month that I have been using the Weed Eater WE-ONE and have found nothing wrong in the way it is designed or the manner in which it works. In fact, I am thoroughly impressed that a simple and inexpensive ride-on mower can give me ample height adjustment, the ability to mulch and bag discharge (Although, you need to purchase the accessories required for these tasks separately). What I did however find a little worrying was its inability to power over slight up-hills. This is a slow and agonizing process that can only be achieved in the slowest speed setting, which slows down even further against a gradient.

Our Rating and Overview:

lawn mower proWe gave this a pretty strong rating and we mostly agree with the good reviews found online. As far as the best price, we have one word that sums up where the best price is – Amazon.com! Okay, maybe that’s two words, I’m not sure. Amazon by far has the lowest price on the internet with a discount saving you over $150 with free shipping.

[/note] Conclusion:

The Weed Eater WE-1 might not be a powerful ride-on lawn mower designed to handle large tracts of land but it’s what any time conscious homeowner would want in their backyard. Silent and versatile, this mower will pay back its investment sooner than you think.

I am only 4’9″ and have difficulty reaching in a lot of mowers. We have one 42″ cut, but we have 3 acres and I would like something smaller just to help my husband out. Would this mower accommodate my height?

I read with interest your “Professional” opinion on the “We-One” and then proceeded to Amazon and read their customer reviews. Not only is it “Not Available”, the ratings were Two Star and customer reviews were just short of saying it’s “Junk” and advising others Not to buy it.
This gives me very little confidence in your ratings of other products. I shall seek knowledge elsewhere.

I have a used weed eater one it doesn’t have the free wheel control handle on the bank of the unit, will this cause any problems?
