Summary:

Swisher ZT2760B
Have a large yard to mow but an inappropriate mower for the job can make life difficult. It has got an exceptionally low center of gravity and a low user profile that adds to its stability and maneuverability on any kind of terrain. The 27 horsepower Briggs & Stratton motor extends the life of your mower giving it a maximum speed of 6 mph while helping you mow your expansive lands using a 60 inch 11 gauge cutting deck with front pivoting axle and hydrostatic transmissions. The cutting height can be configured between 1.5 to 5 inches and the deck can be lifted using a manual spring assist life. It features 3 mulching blades, 8 gallon fuel capacity and a composite discharge chute to the side. The driver seat is 19 inch high at the back with 6 inches sliding adjustment, armrest included and comes with a standard rear hitch with storage compartment.

Our Review:

First up, the Swisher ZT2760B is a riding lawn mower made in America that costs a fraction of many other indigenously assembled and designed mowers. I see that there are plenty of negative reviews about broken belts, loose bolts and improper cutting height adjustments for the ZT2760B but in my personal experience, these problems arise because the user is unaware of how to maintain or operate a riding lawn mower. Most folks are used to handling tiny push along mowers for their front yards and believe that a ride along one will make life easier. Truth is that with a larger mower, there are plenty of moving parts, more stress and basically heavier wear and tear. The breaking belts are a part of this and so are the moving bolts. You simply have to maintain such intricate machinery better in order to get the most out of them on a regular basis. The Swisher ZT2760B in particular needs constant oiling of the belts, tightening of the bolts and alignment of the cutting deck to keep it in pristine condition. Ask any professional gardener or park maintenance crew who use such heavy duty machinery and they will vouch to the amount of investment a riding lawn mower requires. Having defended the ZT2760B against its critics, I do feel that there are a few things that it does a little worse than other riding mowers. The height adjustment takes some getting used to and so are the ball bearings on the wheels kind of low grade, probably because they were manufactured in China. Hence, the moment you receive this zero turn lawn mower, get the ball bearings replaced and get a larger belt for the motor. This should take care of all your woes and keep the Swisher ride on mower running like a charm for years.

[/note] Conclusion:

The Swisher ZT2760B is not exactly domestic friendly because of the high maintenance required. However, at the price it retails for there are not that many cheaper alternatives around. If you know what you are doing with a riding mower, how to maintain it and want something that will last you long then get this riding mower but for people looking at a first time Zero Turn Riding mower, the Swisher ZT2760B might be a very difficult machine to maintain and operate regularly.
